Saleste Pedroza
The first person you deal with here is not a physical therapist. It is the front desk, and Saleste Pedroza, the office manager, runs it. Booking, check in, the paperwork nobody enjoys, the coverage question you have been putting off calling about: that is her side of the clinic, and it is a non-clinical one. She is a second-year student at Riverside City College, headed for a Healthcare Administration degree at CSU San Bernardino, which is to say she is building a career out of making the non-treatment half of healthcare work properly.

Those are the four Saleste names, and at a front desk they turn into fairly ordinary things: answering the phone like a person instead of a script, telling you what your plan actually covers before you commit to a course of care, and saying plainly when an answer has to wait on somebody else rather than leaving you wondering. None of it is clinical. All of it is the difference between a clinic that feels organized and one that does not.

Outside the clinic, Saleste is in class. She is in her second year at Riverside City College, with Healthcare Administration at CSU San Bernardino next. The best place she has been so far is Japan, and it is worth asking her about it while you wait.
